| Statement n. : An overall
impression or mood intended to be communicated, especially by means
other than words
That should say something about my work, but it really doesn't so
I still have to write something in here, something that states something,
possibly.
I have been asked quite a few times what my work represents and
what I am trying to say through it, and perhaps it is about time
I said something about it.
I mainly work with glue and acrylics and that was quite clear I
guess. My first paintings were oil paintings but oil took too long
to dry so I decided to try with acrylics. The choice of glue was
casual. I wanted something different. Glue is definitely different
to me. It gives lots of texture to the painting and the most fun
part is touching it.
Another thing that people ask me is the meaning of my artwork. My
opinion is varied and complicated but I will try to explain it to
you anyway.
Firstly, it is not necessary to give a meaning to everything you
see, but I guess that does not apply to everybody.
Secondly, not everything has a meaning. Sometimes things are just
the way they are and the meaning itself doesnt necessarily have
a meaning (if you know what I mean). That means ( ah ah ah) that
it is not very important what the meaning is, or what is the meaning
I gave to it, what really is important (oh dear I am lost) is what
you see in a painting and what feelings it gives to you, what emotions
it inspires and so on. I am sure this is going to make sense at
some point.
Finally, but not the least, all of my paintings have a meaning,
but you don't really expect me to tell you what it is, do you?
They represent states of mind and heart and the most common feelings
of each human being, such as happiness and joy as well as pain and
suffering or loss and death. Which one is which, you should be able
to understand it otherwhise there is no point in visually expressing
something if nobody gets it...
A friend of mine a while ago asked me what was the meaning of one
of my paintings "Fried Eggs". My friend was surprised
to hear that the painting itself did not really have any meaning,
except for the fact that represents fried eggs. There is no hidden
meaning, no deep statement to make about it. Its just eggs. It is
an happy painting. The eggs are symbol of fertility so it should
read it as bearer of fertility as well. It was inspired by the moment,
as all of my paintings are. They are made instinctively according
to my mood and my feelings.
I tend to use bright colors as I feel they give a better interpretation
of the feelings I want to express. They are an extension of me.
I hope this has answered some of your questions and curiosity. If
not, then ask me again and I will try to bore you with another long
statement. If you have read so far then you have really understood
what I meant to say, if you haven't, then you have lost a very big
part of me.
